The diplomatic delegations from all countries in the Middle East convened in Cairo, at the seat of the Arab League in the Egyptian capital city, for the 166th ordinary ministerial council meeting. The meeting was headed by the nation of Tunisia and was held to discuss important issues relating to politics, security, economics, and to address escalation in the region, especially concerning the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
Oman had representation at the meeting in a delegation consisting of Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, who was the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs of Oman. He was accompanied by Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, who is Oman’s permanent representative to the Arab League. Muscat’s active presence underscored its steadfast foreign policy of promoting multilateral dialogue, crisis containment, and constructive regional engagement.
Discussions centered on the critical necessity of halting ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, safeguarding civilian lives, and ensuring uninterrupted delivery of essential humanitarian assistance. Foreign ministers jointly reaffirmed that lasting peace in the Middle East remains intrinsically linked to the Palestinian cause.
The council reiterated its unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, strictly adhering to international resolutions and the two-state framework.
Beyond immediate humanitarian concerns, delegates addressed key regional security issues, emphasizing full respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and the peaceful resolution of international disputes through diplomatic engagement.
The council reviewed and formally ratified a broad package of draft resolutions submitted by permanent representatives during preparatory meetings. These measures aim to strengthen joint Arab action across political, economic, and social domains.
By actively shaping these ministerial accords, the Sultanate reaffirmed its commitment to building sustainable diplomatic consensus across the region. Omani officials emphasized that continued alignment among member states remains essential for navigating complex geopolitical challenges and ensuring long-term prosperity for future generations.
