Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held an important strategic conference in the Wilayat of Salalah for a delegation of honorary consuls from the Sultanate across major international cities and countries.
The conference concentrated on using international networks for the promotion of diplomatic relations, expansion of business opportunities, and building cultural and scientific collaborations. It was discussed how the Sultanate could benefit from the professional connections of its consuls across the globe and gain access to trade routes and civic collaborations.
In his address to the delegates, Sayyid Badr emphasized the need to maintain constant communication with the honorary consuls. He emphasized that these consular links serve as vital conduits for building bridges between societies while opening fresh avenues for economic partnerships aligned with national growth priorities.
To showcase regional economic potential, the Foreign Ministry arranged a specialized orientation tour across Dhofar Governorate for the visiting diplomats. The program exposed attendees to the southern region’s industrial infrastructure, maritime advantage, and investment-ready sectors.
The diplomatic summit brought together accredited consuls serving in diverse regions, including Boleta Senkiene (Lithuania), Eng. Ivo Vaněk (Czech Republic), Francesco Palau (Milan), Tommaso D’Errico (Florence), Talal bin Salim Al Wahaibi (Istanbul), Pablo Caralps (Barcelona), Hussein bin Saif Al Harthy (Rwanda), Erdene Dorjnamjim (Mongolia), Dr. Mohammed Chand (Botswana), and Prakash Nair (Kerala, India). Sheikh Khalid bin Hashel Al Muselhi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, also attended the sessions.
This strategic engagement in Salalah reinforces Oman’s proactive approach to economic diplomacy, aligning with Vision 2040 objectives. By positioning regional hubs like Dhofar as prime investment destinations, the Sultanate continues to leverage its global consular network to drive sustainable international trade, secure strategic foreign investments, and deepen cross-cultural partnerships across key commercial centers worldwide.
