His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met with the president of Botswana, Duma Gideon Boko, in Gaborone on Wednesday. The aim of this meeting was to establish strategic alliances in numerous economic fields. The visit demonstrated the increasing diplomatic ties that exist between the Sultanate of Oman and Southern Africa with respect to economic objectives. Oman Botswana Economic Ties

In the expanded session of talks, both heads of state discussed some common frameworks for investing that would help boost their economic exchanges. The discussion revolved around many economic sectors like renewable energy, mining, agriculture, food security, logistics, and capital investment. Both countries intended to utilize Oman’s geographic location and maritime advantages along with the natural resources of Botswana.

This high-level dialogue aligns with Oman’s broader foreign policy and Vision 2040 mandate, which prioritizes economic diversification, international investment partnerships, and clean energy transition. By enhancing strategic ties with emerging markets in Africa, the Sultanate continues to broaden its global economic footprint while bolstering national food and resource security initiatives.
