Dhofar will host a major food security forum and exhibition this week as Oman seeks to attract investment, strengthen local production and support sustainable development across agriculture and food-related industries.
The Food Security Forum 2026 will take place in Salalah on August 10 under the patronage of Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The event is being organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Dhofar branch in partnership with the Governor’s Office and the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The forum is designed to bring government officials, investors, entrepreneurs, specialists and private-sector representatives together to examine opportunities and challenges affecting Oman’s food security sector. It also supports the economic diversification and sustainability priorities of Oman Vision 2040.

An exhibition accompanying the forum will run at Atin Plain from August 11 to 15. Around 100 exhibitors are expected to participate, representing businesses and projects involved in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, food processing, agricultural technology, logistics, finance and investment.
Discussions during the forum will cover Oman’s food security performance, land-use regulations and investment support available through the “Tatweer” platform and the “Invest in Oman” initiative.
Other sessions will examine development prospects in Najd, funding mechanisms for agricultural ventures and plans for a proposed Najd Agricultural City. Modern technology and its role in strengthening sustainable food supply chains will also feature prominently, including discussions on transportation and food security.
The organisers are seeking to expand investment across food-related sectors while increasing local content and encouraging projects based on innovation and modern agricultural and food technologies.
OCCI Dhofar branch Chairman Naif bin Hamed Fadel said stronger cooperation between government and private-sector institutions would be important to advancing Oman’s diversification objectives.
The event will also include the signing of usufruct agreements intended to facilitate agricultural and food investments and support projects that generate additional value.
A closing dialogue will bring specialists and decision-makers together to consider the main challenges facing Oman’s food security sector and identify potential areas for future growth.
