The Sultanate of Oman through the Supervisory Team for Promoting Omani Products (OPEX) has made a formal opening of the Sultanate’s pavilion at the 60th edition of Marmomac, the international fair for natural stones, design, and processing technology which is hosted in Verona, Italy. With a total of twelve delegates drawn from both the government and private sectors, the Sultanate is showcasing its marble and mineral raw materials to hundreds of international buyers, technology experts, and sector specialists.
The diplomatic representative of the Sultanate to Italy, His Highness Sayyid Nizar Al Julanda Al Said, pointed out that the presence of Oman at the international exhibition is a reflection of the country’s abundant natural resources and competitiveness of its stone products. He added that expanding the national pavilion aligns directly with the economic diversification goals of Oman Vision 2040 by advancing non-oil exports and converting domestic minerals into high-value global exports.
Marking a significant milestone for local enterprise, the design and construction of the Omani pavilion was awarded for the first time to an Omani small enterprise registered under the SMEs Development Authority (Riyada), reinforcing In-Country Value (ICV) initiatives.
According to Engineer Dawood Salim Al Hadabi, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) and Head of the OPEX Team, participation in the fair provides local manufacturers direct access to top-tier commercial deals, emerging export routes, and cutting-edge processing tools. He revealed that Madayn’s industrial estates currently house 69 distinct stone and marble ventures representing total investment figures exceeding OMR 71 million across an area surpassing 1.4 million square metres.
Oman aims to build on the commercial momentum generated during the previous edition, where participating Omani manufacturers successfully finalized over 80 commercial agreements and secured export orders valued in excess of USD 7 million across European and global markets.
The OPEX delegation operates as a unified coalition bringing together Madayn, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and Riyada. This year’s four-day Marmomac exhibition covers 81,000 square metres of space, featuring over 1,300 exhibitors from 54 nations and attracting an estimated 50,000 industry professionals.
