The Military Technological College (MTC) in Muscat kicked off orientation week activities on Sunday for its 14th batch of students, marking the start of the 2026/2027 academic year at the institution.
The intake brings together two groups of new entrants: General Education Diploma holders admitted through the Higher Education Admission Center’s placement programme, and candidates who joined via combined training, education and employment pathways arranged in coordination with the Ministry of Labour.
Both tracks are designed to feed qualified national technical talent into the Ministry of Defence, the Sultan’s Armed Forces, and the country’s wider security and civil institutions.
As part of the induction programme, students attended visual presentations outlining the college’s academic structure and the learning resources available to them throughout their studies, in addition to a series of lectures covering various aspects of college life and expectations.
Brigadier Ahmed Khalfan Al Hadidi, Dean of the Military Technological College, personally welcomed the incoming students, underscoring the significance of this stage in their academic and professional journey.
He highlighted the value of joining what he described as a combined military and scientific institution, one that blends academic rigour with disciplined training to prepare graduates for technical roles within Oman’s defence and security establishment.
MTC has for years served as a key training ground for Omanis seeking specialised technical careers linked to national defence, offering pathways that combine formal education with practical, employment-oriented training.
The orientation exercise reflects a standard part of the college’s academic calendar, aimed at easing new students into campus life before formal coursework begins.
The college’s dual-entry system, drawing both diploma holders and vocational-track candidates, is intended to widen access to technical education while ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled Omani nationals for the country’s military and civil technical sectors.
