Special programs designed to engage people in science are being held all over the Sultanate of Oman as the Oman Society of Astronomy and Space (OSAS) holds its events within the framework of the celebration of World Space Week. The annual international holiday taking place from October 4 to October 10 strives to increase people’s understanding of aerospace innovations and encourage young people’s involvement in innovative technology. The theme of this year’s celebrations is “Rocket Revolution” and highlights the most important achievements in orbital propulsion and launch systems technologies. By holding interactive workshops and sky watching sessions, OSAS tries to link the basics of science with its practical implementation in everyday human life. The focus on launch mechanisms highlights how evolving aerospace engineering expands global connectivity, environmental monitoring, and scientific discovery beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
Shahad bint Rashid Al Hosni, Deputy Chairperson of the Space Sciences Committee at OSAS, noted that the initiative provides a strategic platform to boost public awareness regarding aerospace progress. She emphasized that reaching younger generations remains a key objective, ensuring students develop strong interest in STEM disciplines while keeping pace with rapid transformations across the sector.

Furthermore, these institutional efforts directly reflect Oman’s growing focus on nurturing national innovation, aligning local technical literacy with global scientific trends. By expanding access to specialized domain knowledge, OSAS aims to inspire young Omani talent to consider future academic and professional careers within high-tech sectors, thereby building a resilient foundation for sustainable scientific advancement across the Sultanate.
The outreach campaign encompasses multi-tiered educational activities, blending hands-on technological workshops with community-focused astronomy events. By breaking down complex aerospace concepts into accessible learning experiences, OSAS aims to cultivate local scientific talent and support Oman’s broader aspirations within the global space economy. These ongoing initiatives underline the critical role space exploration technologies play in fostering national capabilities, academic research, and future technological sovereignty.
