More than 100 sailors from around the globe will meet in the Sultanate of Oman as Oman Sail gears up to conduct the 15th edition of Mussanah Race Week, sponsored by Renaissance Services. The event, scheduled for the period of 15 to 21 October 2026 at Barceló Mussanah Resort, continues to be a landmark event for development of athletes, cultural fellowship, and competitive sailing sports in the Middle East.
Along with the regatta, Oman Sail is conducting the 3rd Arab Women’s Sailing Championship in collaboration with the Arab Sailing Federation and the Oman Maritime Sports Committee. This championship for women comprises roughly 30 female skippers competing in the Optimist, ILCA 4, and ILCA 6 fleets, which indicates rapid progress of females in water sports in the region.
Staged at the high-performance Mussanah Sailing School, the week-long festival blends intensive elite coaching workshops with top-tier regatta racing. Participating athletes will battle across multiple boat classes, including Optimist, Optimist Juniors, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7, as well as Para Inclusive Hansa 303 and RS Venture Connect divisions. Fleet measurement and administrative registration begin on 15 October, leading up to practice sessions, before official racing commences on 18 October with as many as four races per day. The event concludes on 21 October with a formal closing ceremony honoring division champions, youth sailors under 12, and top female competitors.
Beyond the aquatic competition, the 2026 gathering aligns closely with Oman Vision 2040 by advancing environmental sustainability and gender equity in sports. Certified as a Clean Regatta, the gathering strictly prohibits single-use plastics, incorporates comprehensive site-wide waste recycling, and schedules a community beach cleanup.
Supported by strategic partners including the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Experience Oman, National Mineral Water Company (Tanuf), and Barceló Mussanah Resort, the joint hosting reinforces the Sultanate’s reputation as a world-class destination for high-profile international sporting events. Through unified youth and women’s events, Oman Sail continues to elevate regional sailing standards while inspiring future generations of athletes.
