Oman’s Higher Education Admission Center HEAC, which works under the Ministry of Higher Education Research and Innovation announced the results of the step in the selection process for the 2026 2027 school year. The center said that 33,031 students who finished the General Education Diploma program have been given offers to study.
Publishing the results on Wednesday was a moment for high school graduates who are moving on to college and university studies in the country.
The center shared information that showed 70.4 percent of the 46 934 students who applied got a place in this round of assignments.

Messages were sent to the students by text. These messages told students to go to the online registration site. There they could check which program they were assigned to and see the scores needed to get into the most competitive courses.
Officials highlighted a major expansion in overall capacity within the Omani tertiary educational network this year. Ahmed Mohammed Al Azri, Director General of the Higher Education Admission Center, noted that higher education entities made 34,113 total seats available for the upcoming academic cycle—reflecting a 17 percent year-on-year increase in capacity.
This upward adjustment translated into a nearly 20 percent surge in successful candidates compared to the prior academic cycle, where first-round allocations stood at 27,537.
The additional 5,494 seats offered underscore sustained government investments in broadening local academic access and human capital development.
Public institutions captured the majority of seat allocations, providing 17,430 offers to constitute 52.8 percent of the total distribution.
Internal scholarships and financial grants at private colleges and universities accounted for 14,950 offers (45.3 percent), while fully funded external scholarship programs abroad comprised 651 allocations, or approximately 2 percent.
Looking ahead, educational authorities confirmed that remaining unallocated seats across public campuses and private award programs will be made available during subsequent clearing rounds for students who were not placed or who seek alternative pathways.
